Membership Renewal

DECEMBER IS MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL MONTH FOR 2012!

December 2011

President’s Message:

I am honored to be the President of the John F. Kennedy International Airport Chamber of Commerce, representing a diverse grouping of businesses comprising what constitutes the JFK Airport Community.

I invite all of you to support our efforts to keep Kennedy Airport the “World’s Premiere Gateway.”

It’s important to note that JFK International Airport employs around 35,000 people, it’s business activity produces upwards of 229,000 jobs for the region, generates just short of $10 billion in wages-salaries and overall contributes more than $30 billion dollars in economic activity for the New York City region in a single year.

In the face of present and future economic uncertainties the JFK Airport community must become more diligent in its pursuit for stronger economic growth. While we can remain encouraged about the future there is also a strong need for intelligent and responsive advocacy of our community’s interests to deal with existing problems and new challenges.

Much of our continued success relies upon our ability to work together as a community through the creation of a stronger network of business partners.

The JFK International Chamber of Commerce in 2012 will be focusing our efforts in growing our membership, developing more opportunities for member interaction, and cultivate an environment to promote business growth.

The Chamber will continue its advocacy as one powerful voice to address concerns to the Federal, State and City Governments. Additionally, the Chamber will continue to expand on our already active and supportive relationship with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to insure our goals for growth remain aligned.

Through your membership help us continue to play an active role in our city’s most prominent industry as we collectively work toward a better future.

Sincerely yours,

Robert Caton

JFK Airport Chamber of Commerce Supports Elijah’s Promise

JFK Airport Chamber of Commerce Supports Elijah”s Promise
IN MEMORY OF BILL DECOTA
Former Director of Aviation
for the Port Authority of NY&NJ

Back Row, L to R: Vincent Bove (Corporate Loss Prevention Associates), Robert Caton (President, JFK Chamber), Vidya Ramsammy (Corporate Loss Prevention Associates), Representative of Elijah’s Promise, Bruce Abbate (Director, JFK Chamber of Commerce), William Puckhaber (Publisher, Airport Press), and Jerry Spampanato (General Manager, JFK Airport for PA NY&NJ). Front Row, L to R: Bud Heaning (Corporate Loss Prevention Associates), Rudy Auslander (Executive Director, JFK Chamber of Commerce), and a Representative of Elijah”s Promise.

Bill DeCota spent many hours working with those less fortunate than himself and his work continues through the efforts of those pictured here. His kindness to those in need was not known to many because Bill kept this part of his life very private, but his sense of giving could be seen through those at Elijah’s Promise. Due to the proximity of Elijah’s Promise to his home, Elijah’s benefited from Bill’s annual visits there on Thanksgiving Day to help bring a little holiday cheer to those less fortunate than himself. Bill’s kindness and unconditional love was shown by his willingness to forgo his own family celebrations to be with those at Elijah’s Promise. His kindness will live on forever in the hearts of the many that he touched and through the continued works by the JFK Chamber of Commerce.

Message from the President of the JFK Airport Chamber of Commerce…

In honor of Bill DeCota, the former Director of Aviation for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, on November 22nd 2011 members of the JFK International Airport Chamber of Commerce travelled to Elijah’s Promise in Brunswick New Jersey to donate Turkeys, Hams, Apple Pies and Clothing so that those less fortunate could enjoy a nice Thanksgiving Holiday. Elijah’s Promise is a soup kitchen that provides free food twice a day for those in need and that are struggling to make ends meet.

Bill DeCota would donate his time to assist at Elijah’s Promise kitchen and shortly after his untimely passing, and for the past 3 years the JFK International Airport Chamber of Commerce, in Bill’s honor, have donated food and clothing during the Thanksgiving Holidays Season.

I want to thank Joe Clabby of CLPA along with his entire staff for their continued efforts and contribution year after year. It’s Joe who has been instrumental in making sure that we continue to honor Bill DeCota memory in this way.

Special thanks to Vidya Ramsammy, Vinnie Bove, Bud Heaney along with all others at CLPA for their donation of fresh baked apple pies (they baked themselves), clothing and of course their coordination.

Thanks to The Airport Press and specifically Bill Puckhaber and his wife for their generous contribution and for joining us on our trip to Elijah’s Promise.

In addition, I want to thank Jerry Spampanato the General Manager of JFK Airport, Bruce Abbate Officeworx, Rudy Auslander (Executive Director of the JFK Chamber) for joining me on this annual trip and helping represent the JFK Airport Community.

Sincerely,

Robert F. Caton
